Prior to the 1980 Olympics, one of the most popular and all-time best athletes, David Rigert established himself as the best 100KG lifter in the world. However, following the interests of the national team, he had to compete in a lower weight class. Rigert bombed out with the 170KG snatch in the 90KG weight class.
