World Championship, Budapest, Hungary, 1962: Rookie of Team USSR 19-year old Vladimir Kaplunov wins gold medal at the world championship in Budapest. Throughout his career, he set 12 world records and was considered one of the best lightweight lifters in the world in the first half of the 1960s.
