History of Olympic Weightlifting
The Lift Up project is brought to you by chidlovski.com.
Europe vs. Americas, Gettysburg, USA, 1975: Featuring middleweight Yordan Mitkov (Bulgaria) in 1975. A year later, 20-year old Mitkov won a gold medal at the 1976 Olympics in Montreal. Mitkov was a memorable representative of the first decade of Ivan Abadziev school of weightlifting. Training becomes more intensive and streamlined specifically for Olympic lifts, the age of champions becomes younger and younger.
