Emerick Kotaro Ishikawa

Emerick was a wonderful person, I met him while stationed at Hickam AFB 85-90. Even in his senior years he was still at the gym coaching and helping the young guys with lifting and form. I think of him every time I step into the gym.

I worked with Emerick for a number of years @ Hickam AFB, Hawaii, as a graphic artist. He was very patience with me teaching the correct ways for lettering and design layouts. He was a very kind and gentle man. He is always in my memories.

In the summer of 1947, at the age of 16, I was fortunate enough to occasionally train at the York Barbell Gym in York, PA. Emerick was always very friendly and frequently let me train with him. His training taught me how to properly work with weights and was instrumental in my continued weightlifting endeavors that have continued to this day. I will always consider him a friend.

Thank you for remembering. Emerick is missed by all, and his techniques of weight-lifting are still in use today.
