Mr. Evans, you make a really good point about the way athletes responed to the attacks. I was a kid here in the US watching it all on TV and I never really thought about the way it affected them. Atletes do have a response when their pattern of preparation is altered and weightlifting requires so much focus that I'm sure they had to have hurt their performance.

Terry seemed to be having an emotional meltdown during the 1972 Olympics, as seen in the movie Visions Of Eight. In fact, multiple competitors were affected the terrorist attack going on that delayed their competition by a day and many of them did not sleep well the night before. Guys like Patera and Redding who were expected to medal and challenge for gold bombed out.
