Pat Stapleton
Team Canada # 3
Unlike many of his colleagues, Pat Stapleton was not decorated with prestigious NHL awards and trophies but he was known and respected as one of the most experienced and competitive blueliners during his career in professional hockey. His competitive spirit, consistent performance and courage in shot-blocking made him a very respected defenseman among players and fans. He was arguably a key team Canada’s blueliner in both historical Super Series against the Soviets in 1972 (NHL) and 1974 (WHA).
